2024 Goals

Welcome! This is my first post for the blog. I thought it would be appropriate to make my first post about my goals for the year. Below you will find my financial, personal and professional goals for 2024.

Financial

• Max out Roth IRA, 401(k) and HSA accounts
  • Roth IRA already maxed for this year!
• Have a savings rate of at least 40%
  • This includes Roth IRA, 401(k), HSA, taxable brokerage and savings
• Purchase another rental property
  • Currently have 1

Personal

• Travel at least 3 times out of state (or country)
  • Heading to St. Lucia for our delayed honeymoon this weekend!
• Complete 4 mountain bike races
• Workout at least 3 times a week
• Read at least 8 books

Professional

• Read at least 3 professional development books
• Complete more code reviews
  • Aim for 20% of my activity
• Attend a development conference
  • In person or online
• Write more tests for the code I am shipping
• Improve performance
  • Write more performant code and SQL
• Reduce bugs
  • In my own code as well as in existing code

This list is not exhaustive, but these are my big goals for the year. I will plan on posting a recap of my goals and the progress I made on them at the end of year!
